Alpha status has nothing to do with it....They're still groping toward a way to make that viable.

Apparently I'm an Idiot. Someone care to inform me what alpha does mean if it doesn't mean the promise of evolutions both major and minor to the game itself?

Apples and oranges. The fact that it is Alpha, or whatever it is, isn't why there is no PvP, which is what was asserted.

Also, this. Fucking, THIS. What I think makes this game awesome is that once PvP IS viable with PK anywhere and permadeath, mooners will have to rely on PvP players and may even split their attention between such toons. The catch here is that without crafters PvPers can't develop and without PvPers mooners aren't safe. Once PvP is has found a viable balance of action then this dynamic creates a politico unrivaled in any other MMO.

Are we actually disagreeing here? I can't tell for sure. I read what the devs write. This game is about pvp/conflict (or maybe I should say that's what they're trying for). Uninhibited, uncontrolled, unmoderated conflict. The crafting part of it is just a way to facilitate the conflict. What they're still trying to find is the risk/reward balance that will allow real PvP.

How will this work? You can't bloody defend in this game, the attackers have all the metagame advantages (the ability to plan their attack when fewest enemies are online, the ability to come geared for combat, partied yay leadership, they will also bring only their combat characters rather than that poor smuck that likes farming). And while it takes just one great crafter to equip an entire village with armor weapons and stuff farming is not needed to raise the stats of pvpers so we end up with lots of cheap efficient murder alts that can rape my poor unaware farming character that doesn't give a shit about your petty conflicts and just wants to do his carrots probably while teleporting to the idol running being obviously out of the question because I don't know of any farmer that keeps his limited invetory full of buckets of water and food so he can outrun his enemies. So while your shit sounds good in theory it has no chance of ever happening because of metagame and the devs unwillingness to do proper balance (hint: changing an unbalanced system to a new one is not balance)

Chak, you missed that one little thing I wrote. Try to suggest ways to improve what they're trying to make instead of asking for the old shit again.

I don't want them to improve the new system. Everything except archery and the str curve sucks. And I only give exception to those because I haven't seen them yet. As I said, the new system is boring and complicated. You want a 'suggestion to improve it'? remove it. All the dozens of stupid moves, the attack and defense meters. That probalem isn't with how combat works and it never was. THe problem was with the insane levels of investment.
