I would take much pleasure in snapping said rabbits neck.

I don't think this should apply to tamables however if tamable animals do have 'dire'/''epic' versions.

The idea of some rare monsters has some downsides connected to the rarity of materials dropped. And it's just.. everyone does that...

But it's still a good idea! In a way, let's make it into H&H:

imagine if some bear/boar knocks out somebody for a first time and player (after gathering his/her senses) runs away and disengages - not killing the bear/boar - it's the main part - animal should 'win' in any of two possible ways. So this bear/boar 'learned' how to fight against player - gaining some str, hitpoints, 'upgrades' defense/attack etc - now this bear/boar is something stronger than usual bear/boar.. w/ higher quality (or special 'dire') fur/bones/meat/teeth/tusks (the idea of 'reward' for killing such 'advanced' animals) and now this bear/boar can't despawn. And by winning more 'fights' this bear/boar will grow tougher up to some limit(or not?). That's the concept, that surely may require some adjustments :)

I'm pretty sure this wouldn't work for the same reason that bears/boars despawn now instead of sticking around, not to mention i assume you would want different levels of these 'dire' animals since you say 'upgrades'. I'd love to see it though, a system for animals to level, if you ignore a boar/bear too long and let him wreck your village you'll have to send for help >:) Even a little fox can become a mighty animal!

Well.. I meant only vs player combat.. not to get power-boar in your garden like that :) Why, indeed.. that can be something like animal lvl system we have atm - animals have lower lvl when there're villages around. By analogy, animals will 'get' lvl up to.. dunno, lvl20? (with rise in quality of their fur etc) by winning fights - for example, if a bear won 2-3-(more/less) fights vs players - that's one lvl up to the bear.

the problem is that the boar disappear after a while, so how possibilitys there are that a bear stun tons of noobs in half hour?
If the server could survive at the Permanent Spawn it could be nice, but is too early, really a stress for the actual server.
If we wanna some special animal, we are forced spawn it.
(imagine how much cows and chickens are permanent now. The idea of expe for animals is nice, but not for now.)

I'm not so excited by the idea of variant creatures. It's not a bad idea, just not exciting.

Special, totally new, completely different, super rare creatures however, now that is a party boat I can get on and have a party on, with like, balloons, and streamers.

I like the idea of epic monsters, but not too little or too many. I also love the trophy Idea. But I think that with "Epic Hunts" having a village-wide feast should give some kinda bonus. In history there have always been big feasts after hunts. Plus with the rare monsters/epic dragons and stuff it would give smiths and actual weapons more of a use since even an entire village of 10+ people in a pillbox with slings shouldn't be able to take down a dragon, swords and armor should need to be involved.

Yeah, start that one up and Ill chime in :)

I think it would be sorta neat for each Sgrid to have a unique rare animal that did not drop "special loot" but rather an extrodinarily hiq loot of what we already have. Maybe White Harts that give q 250 intestines, leading to an Sgrid wide tendency towards sausages, Black Boars that give q250 bones and while not aggroing, are as tough as a bear, and Silver Foxes with q250 bones (but almost impossible to catch, you need a swarm of beaters, beagles, and horsemen with bugles and silly uniforms to have a chance...

Maybe not the last one, but hey.
