what if i want to loiter on the bridge? or block people's passage unless they pay a toll? or hide under it and ambush their merchant caravan? really do you think making it a warp gate is actually better than making an object that can be walked on and boated or swam under?

Um... I did just explain how this could be solved pretty easily, what with having the bridge having an internal "covered" space and all. The greatest challenge with that solution would be letting carts go through the doors.
Surprise.

Worth bearing in mind that you really have no idea how easy your solution is or isn't.

Although I agree that it doesn't sound overly complex to me, I also have no idea as I haven't seen Jortars server code

Yes I do. Also your brining up of "what if i want to loiter on the bridge?" is somewhat irrelavant to the situation I brought up because you wouldn't be able to stand on the bridge, or hide under it.
Therefore the bridge does it's job without interfering with boat traffic.

That's his point- he wants to be able to loiter on the bridge.

That has no validity in my eyes, it just means he's wanting to be an ass.

Wait, so you're deciding what is and is not a valid use of bridges now?

Yes, I feel that standing around on a bridge, is a pointless excuse to justify something.
