would be nice to have another use for inkweed as well.. apart from mapping. as for the tomes, perhaps higher Q inkweed could result in more wyrd? making inkweed more... sought after.. just a thought, feel free to troll if it fails :D

An excellent idea. I would start a library in a village called Alexandria..until someone decides to troll me by burning it down.

it doesn't sound like a minor issue.. isn't sandbox things like this the reason people even play this game?

I like your pictures... they go with the games UI.. but I would prefer something more stylized.. like a backdrop of a book that changed pages when you clicked the corner.. but that may be asking too much.

Nice mockups. As a cartographer I have cupboards full of Local maps. If there was a "Copy Book" feature too (just make a book, load it with enough blank parchments, have enough ink in the inventory, then same procedure as copying maps) that would be good for the manufacture and trade of completed atlases.

They actually have that in the games files already, its one of the things that afaik has never been used:

Parchment

Postby PRT-Drunkard » Fri Jan 28, 2011 12:01 am

Allow us to make new lines on Parchment? Please? So we don't have one really really really really long line of text?

I usually just try to keep things short. Reserving longer missives for forums.
... Mostly job orders. (This is a mandate for three loaves of bread)

But overall the UI for enscribing parchment and carving runestones needs to be greatly improved. Like a small box rather than just one line. Maybe a lettering limit. In WURM the letter limit is dictated by the sign's quality level.

I think this is a stupid approach, hard cap that to something reasonable.
Runestones are used for more permanent things, like graves, or sites of historical importance. (Or memorial slabs)
... The futhark isn't a standard font, right?

In addition, it'd be nice if we could carve lettering into sticks, or even blocks of wood, for short missives.

Blah blah blah, wooden signs, signposts, billboard*, Wanted posters, shop signs, etc.
*currently subsituted with a coffer of parchment.

Well, I mainly want this because I'm attempting to organize a few of the villages surrounding mine into a coalition. Or rather, a Confederacy. It'd be a lot easier, at this point in time (and a lot less likely to provide specific advertisements about us) to be able to write down more than 1-2 laws/constitution clauses per sheet of parchment (I've crashed someone's computer writing more than that, hah).
