Hirdsmen oath of allegiance?

Postby Antique » Mon Jul 20, 2009 11:27 pm

Right now, our hirdsmen are often online when village leaders are not, and would like the ability to invite new players to the town, rather than telling them to suck it up and wait until one of the town leaders wakes up. Would it be possible to get oath of allegiance as a hird ability?

ee... i kinda like only having the chieften and lawspeaker having the power. Maybe the lawspeaker should be able to decide who has what power ect.. That would be fine.

As long as the option exists for the lawspeaker to delegate people who can invite, I am fine with it.

I was under the impression that hirdsmen were simply soldiers, as opposed to government officials...

As was I, but it feels like a useful feature to implement. even soldiers have some authority, and who says a soldier would not be able to call for you oath of allegiance to a village?

Yeah, but what do you do when your TWO leaders are both offline and you have three newbies running around who can't access the town stockpiles but need to borrow a saw, or a quiver, or something? THEN WHAT? (Then someone goes in and brings it out, but that's not the point.)

I think I'd be even more afraid of acting up in a town if I knew I was there under the actions of the Hirdsmen. Generally, a Hirdsmen would be one of the better fighters in a town, given that they're supposed to be ultra-powahful bodyguards. Acting up while he is putting his reputation on the line to get you in would be a bad move, since if you make a liar out of him, he could take you down.
