Alternate head slot issues

Postby burgingham » Thu Aug 05, 2010 9:38 am

It really sucks that I cannot wear a monocle and a pipe at the same time. I mean come on, tophat, monocle, pipe...
What about the 2 slots below armor? They are completely useless so far. Maybe move armor down to those and let the free slots take pipes.

I know this is a really unimportant issue, but once we get cigars and cannot have a monocle to go with them you will all thank me.

into these slots comes the poor mans belt and poor mans gloves. i would rather suggest to use them for additional usefull items, maybe some armored gloves, like chain or plate gloves. and a real mens belt, which you can finally use to girdle your thighs  .
there had been some suggestions for the use of it, keyrings attached or a quiver belt, so you still can wear your backpack. maybe a sword belt, which automatically draws your sword, while moving the tool you wore into your backpack, when initiating combat.

but apart from this i am totally with you. in real life you also won´t get blind like a mole, when smoking a pipe, because you still can wear your spectacles - at least for most types of pipes

and YES - tophat and monocle really demand cigars ^^

How am I supposed to know that? :D Haven't put those on since world 1 when I started playing and every item was new and exciting.

Well, yes, I know. There are a couple of other issues with the equipment slots other than that, too, so we'll probably go over them at some point.

Background prints of the type of item that goes in a particular slot?

Slots are a cheap (and hopefully temporary) solution to equipment handling.

People can wear more than one layer of linen shirts, but they can't wear multiple fitted breastplates.

People can put a TON of pieces of jewelry on, but there is a limit.

Slots are a bit to constrictive as a model.
I'd prefer more reliance on the paper doll and arbitrary lists of things that are equipped (possibly organised by category) and some modeling around how many shirts you're wearing, etc.

All that isn't really important though, there's way more fun stuff to spend your time on, but I guess you could say the same thing about adding an extra slot for the monocle
