Scaffolding - V.Claim only Construction -Updated-

Postby ciroth » Tue Aug 10, 2010 4:55 am

I used search and didnt find anything, so i will just post what i was thinking. Just something fun. Eitherways, i think there should be more buildings/things exclusivly avaliable to villages but are much more painful to create due to larger amount of players.

Keeping Same Title in post but changing the idea after hearing some feedback and noticed people have some good ideas too :)

EDIT Version 1.2:
Government Action: Deconstruction Orders
Who can use: Lawspeaker and Chieftan Only
Cost: 50,000 Authority (This is cheap when you are in a active and big village, i would even say makes it 100k so you must be an older village with banners expanded already)
Ability: Target "Building" or "Wall" or even "Object" within the said village claim will glow/fade with yellow color for the next 1 minute. All Soak reduced to zero. Cannot work on objects that are over a personal claim even if it is within village claim. Said p.claim must be revoked first. CANNOT BE USED ON PERSONS! Object cannot be repaired during effect.
Effect: Single Target, no AoE effect

I can't forsee any abuse of this method... other than if your LS or Chieftian wishes to grief their own village?

------------------- ORIGIONAL SUGGESTION------------------
Item Name: Movable Scaffolding
Cost: 2 glue, 5 rope, 20 wooden blocks, 10 wooden planks, 2 hard metal ingot, 10 dreams
Repairs: Glue
Speed: 2 on pave, 1 on rest

Restrictions: Can only be built by chief/LS who belong to an active village on active village claim (cannot be build on p.claims on village claim, or moved out of v.claims or moved into a p.claim). Takes 24 hours to set in glue, repairs take 8 hours before usable. Scaffolding Ability will only be activated when chieftan or lawspeaker has "mounted" the scaffolding at top to give orders, anyone else who mounts it will be able to move it but the scaffolding will not activate its ability. For each minute in use, scaffolding takes damage and reduces authority by 5000. Moving scaffolding on wheels will also take damage and cannot move outside of village claim area.

Ability: Any construction within radius equal to that of a beehive gains a 2x build boost. But main purpose of scaffolding is to reduce building absorb within range to zero to allow for villages to build and rebuild walls when expanding.

Purpose: Allows villages to build and expand outwards while removing older walls, this also helps villagers free themselves from wall griefing and etc. Main purpose is to allow villages to go and change their design instead of abaddoning and rebuilding from scratch at a new location time over time.

Problems:
- Abuse of people who v.claim over p.claim to try and break in. Solution to this would to make the scaffolding effect be null on any buildings not on v.claims or in p.claims. As p.claims > v.claims in order of importance.

- Insiders screwing over the village. Cannot be possiable unless your chief/LS is trying to screw the village over... not to mention the 24 hour period.

- Too complex! Solution to this is a much more basic version. Scaffolding only buildable in village claim areas. Will be an "government" option and deploying the "scaffolding" will use up 10,000 authority right away. Must be built right next to object as the AoE is 5x5 tiles.

+1

Building rams in your own town just to kill your misplaced palisades is stupid. As you pointed out yourself, your idea might be a bit complex. Maybe reduce it to a LS government option called Construction Orders that reduces/eliminates soak in a given area for auth.

i like, it but it is way to complex. not maybe, it is. i understand the complexity of battering rams, i think having some complexity for scaffolding sounds good, but what you described is just insane. at least to me, and i'm half crazy so im an okay judge

Agreed, took your guys suggestions and made it less complex and more simplistic. I like having it just a government order and nothing too fancy.

Updated OP, how is that?

Should give some sort of area effect, but centered around the object clicked and ~2-3 tiles range (to ease removal of eg. palisades).
