When exploring and you reach a dead end in a river you often ask yourself.. is it faster to walk the boat or build a new one at the end?
it would be:
- A single occupant canoe
- Carved from a single log much the same way a runestone or a quern is constructed.
- No spots for chests etc.
- It would be strictly a transportation vehicle.

Except maybe give it the ability to carry one object, you might need to take a bed with you just incase.

I like either one really, A might imbalance Carts slightly though.

+1 for everything OP said. Traveling through swamps is cool too.
I could go either way on being able to store carry items in them or storing the canoes themselves.
One thing I'd like to see is being able to access the stored items in my boat while I'm in it. There's no physical reason you couldn't go through your crates or what have you while in the boat. Picking up logs and such is a different issue though.

I like the idea of carving it out of a log, that's awesome.

o-o rather have the canoe be made using harden leather and wooden blocks, or just leather and wooden blocks. Lets you carry the canoe without any walking penelties =P 1 man boat, no liftables allowed inside. Just you and your bags =P requires leather to repair =P Hah...
but the idea of a cheaper boat for quicker exploration would be nice :3
