A steel bow requires steel.

If you don't have steel, you can always just use a normal bow.
You see a masterful engraving by Blaze. On it is Blaze, bears, boars, and foxes. Blaze is striking down the bears. The boars are screaming. The foxes are in a fetal position. The image relates to the return of Blaze in the late winter of 2009.

it makes no sense to have a bow out of steel, there havent been steel bows in europe... besides they had less power so this makes no sense to me.

Steel handle perhaps.
Remember all ranger gear required steel before the moth update. It's just to make it harder to make.
The ones who see things differently.

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

That's because you don't have...

sure, but isnt silk already something that requires a lot work? if it was for balance, it could aswell cost twice as much silk-tread and no steel...

Uh no, the idea is that it takes multiple trees of construction to create it if you had taken a moment to look.

bring me 20 silk threads and I will give you a rangers bow, there are you happy? Rangers bows are available without you needing steel.

That's a horrible rip-off. Silk is worth more than steel.
