Home Page recent updates/notes of whats new. going on

Postby keeny » Tue Aug 24, 2010 9:35 am

I would like to suggest maybe some of the extra space next to the youtube video could be used to list recent updates to HH.
This would also be a good spot for up coming events such as maintenance. A spot for a message why server is down.
Just to make it easy such that everyone can know what is going on rather then having to stumble around forums to try work it out.

The server is almost never actually DOWN, it's usually just crashed. If you can't get online, and there is no announcement thread or any recent posts by jorb or loftar explaining why the server is down, it's a crash.

As for a list of updates, I was actually planning on putting that on the wiki so people can have an overview. The "What's New" on the wiki is months old, even then it wasn't game-useful information.

Yea the biggest thing i would find useful is having a clear way to tell whats new in updates. ie i only found out about instant repair when it happened. A post on homepage would be great for knowing whats new even if its just stating that recent updates and a link.

Would always make life a bit easier rather then scavenging through all the old posts.

I'd rather the devs focused on updates and keeping the server running than adding little informative features to their rarely visited (in contrast to the actual game world) website. :)

Most updates are announced in the Announcements forum. Some updates the devs want us to figure out ourselves. In fact I think it is becoming more and more stuff they would like to add without us knowing.

I actually think that this should have been as per Keeny's suggestion a very long time ago. There is hardly a better place than your home page to use recent updates and features to punt your game. The only reason I can not agree with the suggestion at this point in time is the lag, we just don't need a bigger player base right now.

Such a pity the tail is wagging the dog atm... go and donate you stinking bastards!!! ;)

i think it would be relatively easy to at least have an rss fed list of the most recently posted announcement topics... might be nice i suppose.
