apple cider

The basics of this already exist in the game and I think that it would be an easy feature to add. Fill your wine press full of apples, crank out some cider into a barrel, let it sit for a week and it would become hard cider, another week and it would become apple cider vinegar. Since apples are so much easier to obtain than grapes, I would say that hard cider would have a much weaker effect than beer or wine for the sake of balance.

I support this completely. I think we also need beverages for each of the other stats...

I too support this.

I really don't understand why they didn't implement this instead of grapes/wine.
Obviously vinegar is needed for making cheese, but grapes and wine don't feel very Slavic or Germanic to me.

Wine existed, judging by the sagas, but it was rare/expensive. Beer was the normal drink. Of course that's Scandinavia; I think grapes will grow in part of Germany.

That I don't doubt, but was it from trade or could grapes be found in nature?
I, myself, have a couple of grapevines growing in my back yard here in Sweden. :)

Sorry for going off-topic here.

The Germanic tribes having come into contact with wine is documented since at least the times of the roman republic, I know for sure. Significant parts of the Germanic mythos in itself is probably not much older than the Migration Period (300-700 ADish) at which point wine would obviously be common. Wine is of course prevalent in the wider indo-european mythoplex.

Tea is more questionable, but a lot of the things I've planned for will take us well into the 19th century anyway... and, well, not having tea is just not an option. I'd rather make cows that hatch from eggs than remove tea. ;)
