Queue for building walls & gates.

What I am suggestion is perhaps a way where you can either hold shift+alt to build a Wall Corner-post (Fence, Palisade, Brickwall), a gate, and another Wall corner-post.

While holding shift+alt, it will make a two Corner=post signs on the oustide of a Gate sign.

Reason being is it is extremely difficult to place to corner-posts at the right position while holding shift to build a gate in between.

hmmm i dont get this. you might be doing something wrong.

cant u just put 2 spacer woodstacks after a corner post so you know you have the required space for the gate? then remove them to build the gate?

They gotta upgrade the pathfinding first though... The slightest obstruction in your way while building and moving to build at a location, will stop you in your tracks.

You could queue up 10 walls but as your building it, you'll stop on the 2nd wall because you have to walk up close to build a single wall. Since your close and the pathfinding doesn't include walls, you end up walking INTO the wall you've just built, causing you to stop.

Actually I am talking about when you build a wall while holding shift, it won't snap to the grid. So if both corner pieces do not line up just right, you will not be able to build a gate.

They should allow some system for seeing how far off the grid it is, otherwise it's damn near impossible to align them perfectly actually.

oh... your building walls off center... weird. well... the only way to get that to work would be to make sure you can go 100% around i guess with stopping in your wall. Is there a benifit to walls off center? do they stop rams from working or something.

Yeah, I am building next to a cliff which you can't build on center without having a hole that someone can sneak through. I have found a way to make it go off center all the way around and block both holes. However I cannot take down palisades to make a gate.

Either have something like DatOneGuy said or have it so there is always a build gate option, but if you do not have a cornerpost on the other side, it will put up a cornerpost sign before you it puts up a gate sign.
