Collars for cattle?

I'd like to keep track of my milk cattle better, but sticking them all in separate pens just feels... inhumane. I want my cows to be free range! Could we possibly implement a collar system, so that in the cattle interface/dialogue box, you could select a color (kinda like in the kin/friend list) and the cow sprite would display with a collar of that color as they mosey around. You could track the cows however you like, or just pick random colors for fun

Maybe there's a better way to do it, but this way seems easy and non-intrusive.
