Tanning Hut

Postby Encephalon » Fri Sep 17, 2010 11:26 pm

I am growing sick of tanning tubs and drying racks littering my area, It is much too much a chore to refill them individually so here's my suggestion.

Tanning huts.. Tanning huts could work similar to how the inventory of wagons do, only they require 10 tanning tubs to create (plus other materials for construction) They would collectively allow for a total of 40 spaces for dried leather to be cured into leather.

They would operate as drying racks as well containing many types of fresh skins.. Instead of refilling each individual tanning tub on the ground we could instead, fill the tanning hut with bark and water..

To justify such a simplified method it should require another skill to construct.

Maybe also size-increased dryer which can hold up to 4 4-tiled hides, but needs some more resources and special skill? Walking around those dryers is pain.
For the idea +1.

And what about the q of the items? What if you wanted to get low q AND high q leather? The idea seems ok in itself but it would have to be elaborated. I think it would work better if there was a way to store tubs in it like you store them in a wagon and if there was an inventory (again like the wagon) for bark/water/hides/leather, but you could click on the tubs inside the same way as you do on them outside, so you can fill each one individually and thus control the q of individual batches precisely.

That's the idea though that's the balance. If you want fast leather you use tanning tubs, if you want good leather with less hassle, you use the tanning hut.

+1 Tanning is a painfully tedious process just by sheer click count. Any means to consolidate it would be greatly appreciated.

First: The tanning bug needs to be broken, so if this does it, huzzah for that!

Second: I think this is a grand idea and have thought of it myself while tanning. (Alternately, let the bloody things work INDOORS.. I tan hides in Real Life, and being inside has no effect on whether or not they tan).

Third: While we're at it, can we get 'curing sheds' that function like giant herbalist benches? Perhaps a 'tobacco curing shed', or perhaps less specific items, but to prevent a passle of herbalists benches.
