Building in caves

Postby Conflict » Sat Sep 18, 2010 8:34 am

Perhaps you can allow us to build cities in caves. Not only this but having cracks and holes in the ground on the topside world, there will be sunlight pouring through to the inside of the cave, allowing the growth of crops in certain areas in caves.

+1 Strike the Earth
Especially like the idea of patches where crops can be grown.

I like the idea of building more things in caves, but not the growing of regular crops. My suspension of disbelief struggles too much with it, though maybe there can be some cave corner where you can encourage weird things to grow in bat shit or something.

Why not grow mushrooms? They require no light.

It would be really nice to have a way to make cave mines more viable, and I think this might do the trick nicely. Mine-carts or some such might work too.

I dont like the idea of having a house inside a cave,it just doesnt seem right.

I do want to see a way to pave the cave ground and build smelters inside it,so the long run to the mine is worth it (not decaying smelters) a player should still get outside for fuel.
But the fact there aren't any smelters outside a cave is another reason why you should build smelters inside.
Also Dining rooms would be nice.

I would more se eit like the cave being the house and not a house in a cave.

Btw, about cracks and holes - one might be able to drop stuff into them from the surface, thus making logs, containers and such things delivery alot easier.
Also, mushroom farms - fuck yeah.

I believe loftar did indeed say something about growing Mushrooms in caves. (Irc? Forum? I forgot.)

As long as theirs no people jumping through holes and going: Boo!, I'm fine with the cracks and holes.

Should look at the most recent thread suggesting it now that search works to full capacity no excuses :P

I'd rather and want to, see it in mines.

I want to see a LOT of things in mines for that matter... I'm pissed that I can't build a herbalist table down there, why the hell not?
