Critiquing the "Critique & Ideas" Subforum Community

Postby rye130 » Thu Oct 14, 2010 2:30 am

Currently there are lots of players who enjoy submitting there ideas to this subsection of our wonderful forums. But this subsection shouldn't just be about ideas, I mean it is called the Critique & Ideas section. So why is it that there are no (or very few) critics of the current mechanics implemented in the game, only new suggestions added? I recommend that we start critiquing more, and giving our ideas less.

It may turn out that getting 40 views on what the problem is with our current systems might be a better way to approach it then getting 40 views on how to fix it.

Koya: What means "molest" ? Translator cannot translate it or do it with no logics...
"And no im not native to english, I was born in the usa." - A very bad troll.

uhh maybe you didnt notice but people already do that. In fact since the game needs so much work it sometimes seems a wonder that the devs dont get tired of all the critics

Seems to me like all the threads are "add this, add that, change this change that". I think more discussing of what the problems are with what we currently have would be more productive. We need more discussing of the problems, not what would fix them. Point out the flaws and discuss them not tell a way to fix them.

This is the most backwards logic ever just fyi. There's my critique of your horrible thread idea.

Care to explain or are you just going to state your opinion as fact and leave?

The forum has been around quite a while and there are many suggested changes the developers have acknowledged as desired or necessary that they simply haven't had time to work on; some have even been rehashed multiple times. If you had something specific in mind, feel free to start or continue a discussion regarding it.

but perhaps you should read more of the forum before condemning others for supposed shortcomings

I think i understand the OP's intention... i notice that a lot of the threads started in C&I turn out to be simply various versions of "wouldn't it be cool if we had XYZ", and not really a direct critique of game mechanics and balance. I myself am guilty of starting many threads of this nature :) but that certainly isn't the whole of the sub-section, by any means. An idea is an idea though, even if there is no "critique" that launched it.

I personally get the feeling that there might be a lot of good discussion about improving the game happening on whatever external chat program it is that y'all use to talk with each other, and a good deal of it doesn't end up in the forums at all. Not sayin' that's a bad thing, but people like me who only really look at the forums might miss out on a lot of the in depth talk that happens. (or maybe you just talk about internet memes and dongs and who's a 'fag' and what villages need raiding, i don't know...)

That's normal enough for when there's a lull in development - there is nothing new for people to discuss!

I'm afraid we'll just have to endure it.

yeah man, whatever it is that's coming out for the next update better be friggin' massive. I'd hate to think that all this time without a big development has been entirely due to nordic hookers and booze :D

(ok, actually, i would be totally OK with that)
