It's just suggestion.

this would be useful if we had to deal with stackable items, but as it is now, i think craft-one and craft-all are sufficient. if you want to craft less than a single inventory's worth of items, simply put that number of things in your inventory. easy peasy.

Alternatively, just move to stop crafting when you crafted the amount you want. This is probably safer though ^

Good suggestion, although the layout could be better.

I'd enjoy seeing stackable items for the small stuff anyway. Two seeds as big as a block of wood and a sword :?:
Wheat Grist made from a few seeds still takes up one full slot, no way of holding more than that, same with flour, same with doughs, and a lot more.

Anyway, this does help when you are crafting certain items but it's not necessary and I doubt I'd ever use it instead of the current method as Zirikana put it.

Weight based inventory will take care of that. (Probably.)

At least seeds, flour etc will get represented as substances rather than items, so there should be some kind of stacking there.

Oh, and I approve of the OP's suggestion.

When I'm crafting I just gather up approximate resources and click craft. Usually I want to craft as many items as possible, and very rarely am I aiming for a specific number. If on the other hand I do want to make a limited amount, I just make sure that I don't have more resources than that in my inventory.

When is this feature useful?
