Seriously, does anyone actually chose cloak over increased carrying capacity?

Hobbits can't wear shoes without an agility penalty though, and always start with a cursed ring.

Back on topic: I'd like to be able to wear both too, perhaps a different slot for a "pack" item and cloak. With the option of bigger backpacks when available. Like in the game "Castle of the Winds".
You see a masterful engraving by Blaze. On it is Blaze, bears, boars, and foxes. Blaze is striking down the bears. The boars are screaming. The foxes are in a fetal position. The image relates to the return of Blaze in the late winter of 2009.

Only when I need the increased strength ;-)

I don't know why the devs chose to have quiver, backpack, and cloaks use the same slot, but I presume they had their reasons, just as they chose to make bandages, mining helmet, and bear cloak conflict. (The bandage/mining helmet thing is a real pita, particularly with object decay causing me to store a lot of chests in the mine.)

I second all of this. Cloaks should be worn on top of the small backpacks we have, and perhaps some clothes should also add slots to the inventory through excessive pockets. And we should be able to wear a quiver at our side.

We should also be able to clip an ax or sword and shield to our pack.

I think the reason some cloaks take the back slot, and why quivers take the backslot is balance, so no matter how much "Hey you can X in real life" you throw around it won't get fixed if it is for balance.

There's a reason why we have carts.
