Thoughts on the further development of Haven & Hearth? Feel free to opine!

Suggestion Pile.

Postby Hamel » Fri Jul 31, 2009 7:56 pm

Instead of telling Jorb and Loftar how they should implement my suggestions, I'm just going to mention some things I would like to see possible in the future of Haven & Hearth. And if they want to implement them, they can figure out the specifics for themselves.

I want to be able to:

Mine salt, platinum, gold, silver, copper, and coal.

Build docks, and a variety of ships, from canoes to caravels, langboats, or whatever.

Build bridges and ferries to travel across rivers.

Fish on a large scale using ships and nets.

Prepare and salt fish (or meat), preserving it.

Gather snow and ice during winter.

Leave snow and ice in an icebox to preserve food.

Can food.

Quarry marble, and make buildings out of it.

Stab things with spears and pikes, shoot things with crossbows, and smash things with hammers and clubs.

Have prettier shields (decorated, coat of arms, etc etc. No entirely metal shields, they did not exist. Metal reinforced, on the other hand, did.).

Weigh witches with ducks, and/or burn them (the witches, not the ducks, don't worry).

Get thirsty (water bar).

Get caught in rain/thunderstorms, blizzards, tornados, windstorms, and heat waves.

Have my cattle sucked up a tornado, my chickens get et by foxes, my sheep get et by wolves, my crops ruined by weather, et cetera, et cetera.

Freeze to death, or get heatstroke.

Wear a cape and a backpack at the same time (!!!).

Ride horses, rangle cows, and raise pigs (yee-haw).

Use mills to grind wheat, be it powered by wind, water, or mules (or all of the above!).

Upgrade villages to towns if they reach a population requirement, resulting in some sort of benefit.

Have a single leader government (monarchy, dictatorship, cult of charisma).

That's all I can think of at the moment, maybe I'll post more later.

Just to expand (expound?) a bit. We have fences, it is time to try and domesticate the cattle and tame the wild hog.
I do not understand your

but I think toads go better with witches. :)
I am not keen on the tornado idea, but I do think the rats should be able to eat into our food supply. :|

It is a reference to this Monty Python skit. :)
