Governmental Market

Postby 0racle » Wed Oct 20, 2010 5:58 am

Say if there was a large struture in a town marketplace that people could sell goods to at a price set by a village official,
and the use the village-given cash points only usable at that village, to buy other objects others put in.

mind you this would only work for inventory items, so old fashioned bartering will still get used for liftable objects.

i figure that it would allow villages of greater size to have more personal activity(and less squatters), if per say" a really nice sword was in the structure" then more work would get done by the villager in question and the village would benefit from all its workers at an almost equal rate.

just an idea, feel free to shoot it down if you find a good reason.

i think they are enough for a small village, but not enough for a large one in my opinion.

Barter stands as implemented are great if you want to sell single items for specific items of equal or lesser value. But if you have bulk goods like linen or bricks or food, you have to wait until someone happens to put the item you want up for the goods you have. Or farm cavebulbs, and I hate farming bloody cavebulbs.

Barter stands are the tools of the cavebulb-engorged, faintly bioluminescent upper class, comrade.

The idea of a bigger, fancier barter stand with more flexibility and options certainly has its appeal. But selling stuff for non-transferable points sounds like a good way to get ripped of in any number of ways...

We could use some kind of an improved shop building, mainly one with more slots and a better interface. Possibly some kind of theft protection, but not infallible protection. But it should definitely be property of individual players, like the stalls.

i like your idea . it would work like mine but be privatized and much more secure so less ripping off will happen.
and i agree nontransferable points may have been a bad idea on my part
