Honestly, outside of the ugliness factor, and the sting to our pride when we see the evidence of some lazy fucker racking up LP for some new alt just so they can buy "tresspassing" and make a thief alt or whatever, what is the real problem with clearcutting? Especially now that trees naturally re-spawn on their own.
I will concede that some dimwit mowing down your grove of q 100 fir trees just to get the LP for chopping them is a heinous crime. But that's more of a tresspassing issue, right?. If you really want those high q trees, make a village statue or banner and claim them. Otherwise they must not have been that important to you.
And if you don't like the sight of a bunch of tree trunks littering the countryside, then claim that area, pull up the stumps and replant it all.
I'll add that I say all of this as a person who, while out exploring, will see an ugly mini-map's worth of stumps and grass patches and say to myself, "what the hell...", but as long as it's not on or near my claim, what's it to me? I wouldn't mind seeing forestry naturally becoming a "trade" in its own right, and adding LP to the skill would help that, so +1 to OP, but the clear-cutting argument just doesn't seem to have legs.
I get your point, but as i said in the original post, when i left my house so where all trees gone except those inside my claim. just because someone wanted some extra lp.
So i am saying wouldn't it have been better if he had planted trees instead?:) (if lp increases so do i think that more people will start to plant trees than before)
But i do get your point that it doesn't matter to you if the land is a bit barren, but that's something personal, some ain't bothered about it and some are.
I agree with you that it would make it more appealing to have it as your "trade".
