Deathblow

Killing should never happen automatically in a permadeath game due to the heavy consequences - it should be a decision the player actively makes, not a casual act. Originally, I suggested that aggro might be removed from players after knockout; however this would give them the option of logging, so wouldn't work out. That leaves two viable alternatives for implementing this:

  • Add a rightclick coup de grâce command to the fallen character.
  • Add a deathblow ability to deliver the final strike after knockout.
Either way this should have a cast time. Adding this feature would also cause sparring between allies to be less dangerous.

It could be argued.
"The psychological trials of dwellers in the last times will be equal to the physical trials of the martyrs. In order to face these trials we must be living in a different world."

Jackard, I think you are forgetting the fact that accidents happen.

You don't have to want to kill someone for them to die. A single punch to the head can kill a person in hours.

Please. You can justify nearly any game mechanic using "realism" or anecdotes.

The question is, is it a good mechanic? As I've mentioned in the past, I don't believe death should be a trivial thing.

I agree with the concept, but this allows for a quick :lo and escape when death is intended.

Why don't you go get punched in the head a few times about it

When you die in real life, you stay dead. Maybe devs should make it so that you can only have one character, ever. Check IP, MAC, hardware hash, players' biometrics, whatever it takes.

Also, to emulate real life more closely, let us chop hands off thieves, and force them to play a handless character because they get just one character ever, just like everyone else.

*edit*
WHEN YOU DIE IN GAME, YOU DIE FOR REAL.

Brilliant idea! Why didn't I think of that? In fact, I like this idea so much I'm volunteering to do the actual killings, as long as you guys supply me with the addresses and plane tickets.
