Picket fence

Postby Danno » Sun Nov 14, 2010 5:23 am

Surely mentioned before at some time, but I only found two results for "picket" in Critique & Ideas, neither of which appeared to be what I had in mind. Anyhow, it would be a fence made from boards. It would be stronger than a round pole fence, of course, but weaker than a palisade. Perhaps it could have some weak locking mechanism, not that breaking through it would be very difficult.
Maybe round pole fences could be changed so boars and aurochsen could smash through them, but they wouldn't be able to get through picket fences (or they'd have a hard time doing so).

Reasons to add:
1. Round pole fence is unattractive.
2. Variety for the sake of cosmetics.
3. The developers obviously have nothing better to do than add this feature with haste.
4. Round pole fence is unattractive.

It's repeated for emphasis. It's like saying "did I mention it's free?" when you know you've already told them a dozen times.

I'm not sure I'm ready to live in Suburbs & Fireplace. It's a decent idea, but obviously as important as the sarcasm implies. It would be an odd choice for defense purposes because palisades are already low material investment.

i disagree. J&L have many important things to due, like dogs and trolls and other stuff to numerous to mention by myself.

It reads as sarcasm to me. I guess it could be sarcastic frustration, though.

Something that would actually change gameplay, like a new lp system or a new combat system, would be higher priority in my opinion, but I'm just one guy with an obvious lack of taste.

But if you insist, we need an additional skill - Summon Tom Saywer. Picket fences are useless unless they're whitewashed properly.

You, good sir, are absolutely right. It would be like sacrificing stuff to the ancestors, just he'd actually be greedy and want all 3 things like a lot of us commonly assume at first.
