Claims left by non-playing characters

Postby mipmiopin » Mon Nov 15, 2010 11:01 am

Today I want to say a word about the claims.
Let's say there is a claim that was put by a peson, and this person was somehow dissatisfied by the game/game interacions or just another players. Or simply was killed by someone 'cause of several claypieces, raged and left the game.
The claim stays there forever (till next world) and sometimes nobody cares about them, but sometimes there are good places left untouched under those claims, and this becomes a painful loss of resourses.
So my idea is to feed claimstick with a res called "wonderful dream" - there are not that many things that use dreams, and it'll be another way to spend dreams.
You can put like 10 dreams in a week to feed the claim, and if claim is not fed, it'll get one degradation pooint, and so on. Village Claims can consume same dreams.
So in this way, claims left without attention by their owners will disappear within month or so, aaaand with that, anything left on unclaimed zone starts to break and finally disappears. Lesser things for server to keep thinking on, more territory for those who are still playing.

Claim decay has been discussed many times before and even that insert-dreams-to-prevent-decay thing has been mentioned before. Please do a search first next time?

Yay! We just got rid of grindy decay repair, and here comes the first moron to suggest that it should be put back in! Great idea!

There is always the option of dealing away with it in the same manor as I am with the 1.7million authority revocation cost on a claim left by a long-dead player right next to my village... build more banners, or if you don't have one, setup a village, invest the LP, and just revoke the claim.

I did. But do you know how some things work? the more any problem is discussed, the more is probability the problem will be solved. Necroposting ain't a thing that helps.

That only works to a certain extent. Personal claim decay has been discussed a ridiculous amount of times and you can be sure that the devs know about the problem and will fix it when they have time for it. Right now other things are more important.

No feeding claim stakes with dreams please (aka things that are a pain in the ass.)

However tying a claim stake to the characters online time if possible would be ok. For example, not logging on a claim owning character for 3 months would cause the claim to disappear with an automatic refund of LP to the owner, should they ever come back. This would allow abandoned ruins to still disappear eventually and not a return to decay for active players.

I like this idea. I was going to suggest something similar. Perhaps not 3 months though. Maybe the game should just require you to log on once per month and just select something like "renew" on your claim; no repair cost, just click it. That way, players who are planning to come back can put the game on hold for a while and the claims of people who've left for good will disappear quickly.

This thread makes me twitch. I read the same suggestions two months ago. Search function, please.

Hmm... I've never understood just why people have such an aversion to new threads with old content. If we want to discuss an old topic without reviving an old threat (which is apparently bad too) then I don't see a problem with creating a new one.
