Frogs, Rats and Chickens: Yay or Nay

Postby AlexFili » Tue Aug 04, 2009 6:36 pm

There are a few too many of these 'semi-worthless' creatures around. If you got rid of them wouldn't the game be less laggy?
That's just my opinion, what do you think of them?

nah, i like em, they add atmosphere. and i don't experience lag other then via things like bugs...
certainly i've never noticed the amounts of frogs/chickens/rats impact my experience in any way negatively.. [other then getting stuck on them]
Besides, it was confirmed we will have chicken eggs as another food at some point [and keeping chickens in like some form of contaiment to keep em after crashes]. I think there was some desire for the taste of frog legs too..

Sometimes when I'm bored I gather up a full inventory of frogs then go and find random dude and I'm all, "Hey. HEY. You like hip-hop?"

Then I drop them all at once.

(If he says "No" I say "Too Bad")

I like filling mines with rats, it seems so fitting. It's also really funny to go down into a mine, and see a rabbit randomly hop by.

Well, they may be worthless now, but we don't plan on keeping it that way. ;)

I haven't done any measurements on it yet, but I don't really think removing them would improve performance at all.

Obviously, we didn't put them in just for kicks. You will be able to use them for stuff at some point.

Do rats placed in mines not despawn?

I assume it's just that the Pinewood mine(s) are busy enough for people to keep seeing them and resetting the timer.

Also, I assume in the future that rats will spread disease, chickens will lay eggs (that are actually usable), and frogs will...

I don't know, sing songs?
