Stackable Crates

Stackable Crates.

Crates are great. They're inexpensive, movable, and hold a good number of items - the perfect transportable container for newbies.

But, after two or three, they start to clog your space up, especially if you're trying to create a very small settlement.

So, here are the points of my idea: Stackable Crates, perhaps up to three or four.

=============================
Scenario:

You and a friend have just been down the river to the mulberry trees, about five minutes away, in a boat each, which has two crates each. You teleport back and now have four crates full of mulberry leaves. You intend to take these to a nearby village later to trade, so you'll need to be able to move them later.

Now, instead of having to splatter them around and try to make the best of your Log Cabin's space, you can stack them in the corner, four high.

About three hours later, you transport them out again for trading.
=============================

Even in the case that you put all the mulberry leaves into a cupboard, you'll still have empty crates sitting around, so I guess another scenario would apply to the storage of empty crates. I think i've got my point across, nethertheless. Dolike?

Has been suggested before, but great idea nonetheless.

Yes.
"Normal" is only a difficulty level in video games - Aso11

Koya: What means "molest" ? Translator cannot translate it or do it with no logics...

IIRC, the last time this came up, it was suggested that only the top crate in a stack would be accessible to open, to balance the utility of crates against cupboards and the various chests.

I thought this came entailed with the idea out of common sense, but yes.

I did do a search, too, for other threads like this, but the ones I saw weren't really that spot on. :)

How would the interface for the stacks work?
I suppose that left clicking a stack of crates would open an inventory window for the top crate.
Leftclicking a stack while lifting a crate of the same kind would put the new crate on top of the stack, and change the graphics.
This would only work if the stack has room for another crate, and different crates could have different stack height capabilities.
The top crate could be lifted off by using the adventure-lift button.

See, UI was not difficult :-)

Lift crate.
Right click another crate, whilst holding.
Stacks.

Right click > Open top crate.
Lift crate stack > Lift top crate.

Very easy :P

No UI needed:

Stack: just like rafts, lift one crate and leave it over crate pile.
Take top crate from stack: use lift on crate pile.
Take items from top crate: left click just like ordinary crates.

EDIT: ups, posted at the same time
