Introducing SHP recovery might destroy whole PvP balance, but whatever, I'm just suggesting the idea.
The Reason
The game has 2 ways to HHP recovery, which are leach-treatment and bandage-treatment. But there is no way to recover SHP.
SHP works as _the_ HP, for if you're knocked down at PvP, you're done. And it makes HHP actually useless in PvP.
Or one can think about the notorious "thorn in the foot" thing.
A newb who lost all SHP w/o shoes, (s)he is done. 3 steps then knocked down, till (s)he make clogs, if (s)he knows the reason after all.
Or one faces an X-level bear, knocked down, teleports back home, only to find out there is a boar spawned in the territory.
I mean, there should be some way to recover SHP. After all, deers can do it, so why not?
The Mechanism
There better be 2 ways to do this, just as HHP recovery mechanism: one slow but easy to access, the other faster but harder.
I'll suggest more than 2 ways, so that one may choose which ones are good to be applied to the game.
1. An Ointment
This is HARD but FAST way to recover SHP.
You create an ointment, from "Honey", "Beeswax" and "Blood Stern", with a cauldron and some water in it.
Honey is well-known for its power of healing, and beeswax will form the ointment itself, a blood stern, to suppress the quality of the product.
(After all, a blood stern is not used much, although it's the hardest item to be found w/ foraging skill. This recipe will make it more than useful.)
Or one can add "a beautiful dream" for its unnaturality.
The ointment will increase one's SHP quick and high, but it's hard to make for blood stern and beeswax are mid-high-level items, and its Q will be kept low by blood stern.
How to Use: one right-click it to open the menu, then just use it.
There should be some kind of cooltime or treating time though, for it better not be abused in the PvP.
2. An Egg
This is EASY but SLOW way to recover SHP.
This might sound odd, but folklore says that you can treat a bruise w/ an egg.(I never tried it, though:p)
Eggs are quite easy to get once you build a chicken coop.
How to Use: one "equip" it on the head slot.
Easy, huh? When you're done, you can eat it, too!
3. A Drug
This might be both, EASY or HARD, SLOW or FAST.
The word "drug" doesn't mean much here, I just don't know how to say it in English.
How to Use: one smoke it.
There might be multiple recipes.
One might mix "tobacco" w/ "hemp" or "boar tusk snuff" or "black/green tea leaves" w/ "honey".
It could be mixed w/ "a beautiful dream" for its unnaturality.
Or we can use the blood stern again, to suppress Q. Or what about "dried Ant Empress"?
Smoking is a good way to buff and nerf at the same time, for one can take advantage of it, but cannot equip neck slot jewelry.
4. An Ointment, again(cheaper one!)
This is EASY but SLOW way to recover SHP.
There might be easier way to make an ointment. Or is it an ointment? Whatever.
The idea is that some kind of tree barks have healing power. i.e. the willow bark(aspirin).
So one can grind willow bark, then mix it w/ something cheap. What about a ballclay?
How to Use: one equip it on the head slot.
This time, to slow down the process, it better be equipped rather than be used.
5. The Magic(finally!)
This is HARD but FAST way to recover SHP.
After all, A MERE DEER uses it!
It should be some kind of skill, able-to-learn after first aid and hearth magic, w/ high LP cost.
And it better be affected by INT or CHR. In this way, INT/CHR will become more meaningful than now.
How to Use: During the combat mode, maybe? Costs coin and combat gauge.
Conclusion
Please think about introducing SHP recovery.
I honestly don't know how this will affect the PvP balance, but it certainly will, maybe disturb the power balance.
W/ some way to reduce LP penalty by the death, there will be more battles, more loss of items, more market activities, more epic stories.
And, I say it again, A DEER DOES IT! WHY CAN'T WE?
