UrW style distinction between fur and hides (and craftables)

Postby sonerohi » Sun Dec 05, 2010 6:13 am

Basically, as the title says, furs and hides should be distinct. I am assuming that climate will be in eventually because why the fuck not, and climates mean gear suited to the climate. When you are trudging through calf deep snow, you want some warm as hell deer or bear, not some hairless pig.
Some examples of why there should be a distinction: The above warmth idea. Because a furry waterskin sounds ridiculous and nasty. A difference between leathery and furry upholstery. Because.

Deer don't make good furs because the hairs fall out.

Perfectly good reason. I've never heard so much validity in my life.

This would be nice, but only if they revamp crafting to include the distinction within old recipes instead of just piling on new ones. Like the merchants robe looks like it has some fur. I would also like to see cold weather outfits when we get seasons or snowy areas.

onion: i assume he meant deerskins?

Deerskin was actually very popular in northern climates for clothes.
