Some people might like to build claims that don't have a rectangular/box shape. Maybe something like an "L" or a "T" or, for those of peculiar and unforseen spacial needs or the batshit insane, an "F".

ALAS: totems only allow expansion N-E-S-W for a dull and uninspiring four-cornered plot.

REMEDY: Mini-totem.

You could place it on some part of your already claimed territory and expand a new box from that location.

Now you can zone for that new swimming pool without having to murder your neighbor!

The reason for not doing this is the fact that you could then build a custom O shape around someone elses claim.

Caradon. I'm guessing J&L would make it so the most you could do is make a u shape, and the totem claims can't be within 5 squares of each other, just like regular claims.

The OP is right, there is not enough land and our numbers have swollen beyond what the forests can support. If population controls are not put in place soon our very world shall be torn asunder. Who knows what chaos would emerge!
