How about a little less POP-A-MOLE!

Can't you Chill the speed of combat so that non-starcraft gamers can get the hang of this?

I can appreciate the survival aspect of this game, but if by chance a bear completely hidden behind a tree is racing towards me i have no way to make head or tails about what todo within the timeframe.
...oh did i mention how i appreciate "strategic genius" bears? CREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!!!!

look, if i must waste 12 hours to build up some decent stats, then atleast let my fate be decided by my own stupididy and NOT wheter im a counter-strike gaymer.

Well Mr.Gaymer, you could always practice on toads. Or rats. Neither runs away, it'll give you a chance to practice some moves and get the system ingrained in your mind. Try it. Or rage quit, w/e works for you.

No, i'm there's absolutely no shame in practising on toads and rats, it's how i learned the system. It's a first step, so don't get frustrated. Also, the best way to avoid boars and bears is to build a house and RUN LIKE HELL to said house. Or river/lake water. You don't need to swim, just go as far out as you can and they won't reach. They hate water, or sumthin.

You must really suck at Starcraft.

(p.s. if you only have 12 hours worth of lp, the only heads-or-tails to bears is run or die.)

I did do some sparring actually, and i do avoid every bear and boar i come across, in the trek that killed me i came across two bears, and a boar...the third bear was completely hidden behind a tree before it jumped me.
*Gilbertius client from now on*

All i want is just a few seconds to get my bearings(lol pun) to decide what todo, a few seconds on the combat turn also. My carpa tunnel syndrome is bad enough without having to fast-gear a clickfest through some button-trees.

You really shouldn't be, combat in this game isn't exactly tournament-level South Korean micro Starcraft, it's more like first-five-terran-missions singleplayer Starcraft. Combat is slow, provided you don't get attacked by anything out of your league. Just read the wiki, make sure you understand what the maneuvers/attacks/whatever you have do. Combat isn't contextual, particularly in hunting. Just work out a move order that works for you and keep your eyes on combat advantage and attack and defense. With 15 UA you can easily make short work of a fox, just keep near water. Suprise bear/boar attacks definitely suck, but it's the risk you take when traipsing through dense forest.

I'd prefer turn-based combat, but the cooldown time is hardly prohibitive as long as your opponent doesn't have considerable advantage. Just set up hotkeys and deal with it.

Come again please? The combat system may be complicated, yes. But fast??? It is so fucking slow with all the IP you have to build up and such it isn't even funny anymore.

12 hours? This might not be the right game for you. Try 12 days and you might be able to kill bears in close combat, or you know just use a sling.

The combat system is considerably hard, but give it some time and you will figure out. I started to understand the mechanics behind the system after I started taming, but you can also go around smashing toads or whatever that works for you.
