Let us scroll through chat more precisely

Didn't find a topic about it searching "scroll", I know it's been mentioned before. Please let us scroll through the chat with little up/down arrows or something.
If you miss a message
due to someone
typing
as if they
were writing a poem
or while having been logged on for a long time, you become unable to scroll up to see it because
it jumps up too high
due to the scrollbar scaling with the entire chatlog.

This is highly annoying and I really can't imagine it would take too much effort to give us a quick fix after all this time.

Just being able to use the mousewheel would be nice.

agreed. the whole chat interface is terrible, really, bad scrolling, can't copy/paste, etc

there are some clients that do it better though

apparently ender's client solves some of these issues, so at least there's that
