Well, as the topic states, I'm going to be discussing a "Wide Variety of Ideas".
First off, regarding the general wildlife. I propose you add more animals, creating a wider assortment of possibilities. For example, you could add in dogs, wild dogs. The wild dogs could be tamed, but in my opinion should be programmed as one of the weakest animals. There should be a skill that would allow you to train dogs, but would cost a lot. Like over several days you can teach it to fend off wild animals and train it's strength, somewhat like a guard dog. Or possibly a helper dog, capable of pulling loads alongside you. Not only dogs, but possibly cats as well, for show. To keep it more interesting you should set an assortment of food trays and drinking bowls that could be crafted. So if the animal is unattended for a period of time it will die.
Now, onto a different recommendation. This is more along the lines of just updating the walling system. I don't believe, if you're actually looking at this as a real-life simulation, you should be able to see over 30 foot walls. I suggest you input a system where if you are outside of a walled area, bricked or wooden, it would block out the area, preventing you from seeing inside. It would drown down a bunch of grieving because enemies wouldn't know what to expect, may it be a trap or an empty town. And if there is an open gap in the wall you should only be able to see a partial area of the inside.
As for weapons, another topic for discussion, I say you should add the crossbow. Even if this game is based on medieval times there should still be crossbows since it's a simplistic weapon. For example... Most of the other objects in the game are more high-tech than the regular crossbow, so wouldn't you believe crossbows would be accessible? I'd also suggest adding in new types of skills and attributes. Like in the screen where it shows hunting level and what-not. You could add in a blunt weapon skill and add in blunt weapons, such as weapon hammers. You could even add in a staff skill or spear skill, allowing a wider variety of aspects a player can excel in.
Oh, yes, back onto the topic of wildlife. No matter how hard I look I find it difficult to find any decent sized herds animals to hunt. Despite the enormous world that the game is placed in there isn't enough animals that would actually make it seem realistic. So, the suggestion is that you increase the populations of animals such as deer, cow, bulls, and chicken. Boars are annoying fucks that no one likes, don't include them, lol. Bears too! Also, rather than letting them "respawn" I suggest you input a system were animals could naturally mate and breed. This would cut down lag a lot because it wouldn't be restoring a mass of animals. This would also implement an extinction system, forcing players to moderate their hunting, also making the game more realistic.
More is to come soon, but for now, please work with I've explained.... ~ I'd also appreciate feedback.
