Learning Points as Currency

Postby Demiwar » Thu Feb 03, 2011 8:26 pm

Just had a rather random idea about currencies. What if we used LP as currency? People could trade their LP in exchange for goods and services, which are then used to buy other stuff, or increase skills. All that would be needed is the ability to transfer LP between players. Random thought, but what do y'all think? LP are infinitely useful and easily obtained, two key components of currency. It would sure beat bricks ;)

Is it a random thought that probably wont fly? yes, but I still expect arguments against it to consist of more then just one word and a lot of dots...

That would benefit macro'ers infinitely. Need some gold? Just activate a digging alt and make 1,5m/day.

Surely this would enable extreme power levelling where a village could potentially plough all lp into one character. I can understand your idea for a currency, but I do not think lp is a good basis for it.

what if there were items that gave you LP? you could use only one of each type of item at a time, and more int would allow you to use more types of items. you would gain lp while you used these items, whether you were logged in or not. each item would have an amount of time that it worked for, after that the item would be gone. some could be foraged, some could be crafted, and some could be found in the course of your day-to-day activities, for example there might be a rare item found when clearing stumps, or fishing.

oh, and these items should be the only source of LP.
