Using soil as fertilizer

Postby LimaZulu » Sat Feb 05, 2011 3:00 am

I did a bit of hunting and didn't find this idea represented in the forum, so I figured I'd take a crack at it, and sorry mods if I missed a pre-existing one.

It'd be simple. Just like growing crops, you plow your field. Instead of seeds, you'd right click soil, left click the plowed ground. Dunno how long's a good amount of time for the fertilizer to take to set or whatever, but I guess that could be decided by smarter folk than me. The effect on the soil q would be some fancy math formula that they teach in Yankee schools. :D

What do you all think?

For sure fertilizer's been suggested, but this isn't a bad way of calculating it. It'd probably be an average of both soils.

Another way to explore would be clay as a mineral source for plowed fields.

Seems reasonable I like the interface part of copying seed planting. Some other forms of fertilizer need to exist as well, possibly made from bones (cause we still have metric fuck-tons of excess bones even after bone-glue was added to the game) or some kind of 'limestone' rock which we can mine.

Sure. I dunno what all different fertilizers could do, but maybe we could get creative and have different things added in with soil to fertilizer do different things. Maybe J&L could implement something where certain crops required certain things added to the soil, like ground up bone material or something like that, in order to be planted.
