Greater Flexibility through Dying

Postby niltrias » Mon Aug 31, 2009 12:27 pm

Why not have inheritance of lp be based on a strict percentage of the lp earned, as opposed to now, where skill tree lp is a strict percentage but leveled lp is not? (leveled lp decreases by the percentage, but does not refund the lp invested.)
This would have 2 advantages:
Short term -- People who want to try out "civilian" leveled skill roles could suicide and immediately begin testing, giving a quick range of skill in the new lp areas, instead of having to wait for the player base to level up. Bugs and imbalances would be easier to spot out of the gate.

Long term -- more flexibility would lead to enhanced re-playability. If a continuing gamer is getting a bit bored and is killed or suicides, they could try out a new role relatively easily. On top of this, we would see scenarios where the son of a famous metal-worker becomes a powerful ranger intent on those who killed his father. Conan, anyone?

Agreed. But Robert E. Howard > Books by lesser mortals. (Not that there are any instances of Conan avenging his father there)

Although, in the COMIC books, there was the guy who only fought with a shield. Wasn't he avenging his parents?

Alright, Jackard, you win. I have no idea what reference you are making. Little help?

Did he mean this?

You see a masterful engraving by Blaze. On it is Blaze, bears, boars, and foxes. Blaze is striking down the bears. The boars are screaming. The foxes are in a fetal position. The image relates to the return of Blaze in the late winter of 2009.
