Fox Curiosity

Postby onnings » Thu Mar 17, 2011 2:26 am

With the semi-recent change which turned bear teeth and boar tusks into curiosities, all lootable animals now have available curiosities to them apart from the fox (as far as I know). While foxes undoubtably will be more popular to hunt in w5 thanks to the new importance of INT, I still feel it's inconsistant that this animal doesn't have a curiosity linked to it.

What I suggest is that when a fox is skinned, the player gets a 'fox tail' curiosity. In addition to being the regular curiosity thing that we use because we're all such curious little buggers, it could also be added as a component to the fox hat. Hey, the sprite does have a fox tail after all!

But yea, that's about it. Equal rights for foxes!

I like the Fox tail but not making it required for the Hat, unless it occoured all or most of the time.

The thought was that it'd always drop when skinning the fox.

Edit; to clarify - since the fox, like bears, deer and boars, remain as 'large items' in the world after killed, I feel their general mechanics should remain consistent with each other as they already share this feature (unlike the chicken and rabbit, whose curiosities are RNG-based, and whose corpses are lootable items rather than world-based large items). They should, like their large item corpse pals, always drop their curiosity for the sake of consistency.

This does remind me though - how about tamed animals? Do they have curiosities? How about auroxen and mouflons? Following the consistency I used as reasoning for the fox curiosity, they too should have a 100% chance of dropping a specific type curiosity. Also, should tamed animals be exempt due to them being tamed?

Not really curiosity based, but a fox hat should give a small XPL bonus. Just something to make it a little more useful as right now it's strictly cosmetic.

I wish. Roasted Fox Meat is only 1 Int. May as well just eat blueberries since they are also 1 Int, you can get them higher quality easier, and they are only 1/4 the hunger that fox meat is. Fox Meat has always been crap and needs to be buffed. At least Fox Wurst is 2 Int 1 Per base...

Yea now that ya mention it thats not very much, effectivly its +1 Perception over eating the cooked meat, though your getting the potentially higher quality of your Cooking and MeatGrinder.

I mostly use fox meat for FEP reduction.
