Having to harvest yourself to unlock/learn items

Postby gadien » Sat Mar 19, 2011 12:42 am

In order for you to unlock any recipe, it appears that you have to harvest the item yourself. If the item drops on the ground while you are harvesting it, you don't unlock/learn about the item. I find this to be an unnecessary step in the process. Someone suggested to give players the ability to teach others about objects, I believe that is a fine idea. However, in addition to this, you should be able to learn recipes from items that have already been harvested. Both methods should require some amount of time, say an uninterrupted 2-5mins to learn/unlock the items.

Study time to learn in unconventional ways is fine, but you should be able to.. otherwise things like trade and theft are right out.

Avu brought up the idea of teaching others recipes. I like this idea a lot and fully endorse it. I think this applies well to situations like this, where one character can teach another character useful information.

Jorb and loftar:

Lets say a baker wants to make food. HE is not a farmer and wants higher q items and needs some ingredients he cannot get himself. Here is my idea, instead of having to harvest it yourself you can discover it and get recipes for it but not the lp. The lp should only be gained if you find it. This is essential because of this new lp system people wont be spread out into roles and if someone wants to make something that they don't have enough PE for example then it is a loss for them and if they spread themselves to thin they cannot be as good.
Certainly, in taking revenge, a man is but even with his enemy; but in passing it over, he is superior; for it is a prince’s part to pardon. - A wise friend.

You completely misunderstood what I was talking about.

Yea I saw that as well. Its a good idea and thats why I mentioned it. I brought it up again here because I harvested a deer to be able to build my village's idol and the antlers fell on the ground causing me to have to harvest a deer again. Thats silly IMO

This is so rediculously stupid, I'm not a hunter, I'm a farmer, How am I suppose to build a village idol if I ava eto fell a bear or deer or anything like that to learn the damn "idol recipe"? Can it be learned by someone brining me a deer to skin and butcher? Or do I have to kill the damn thing myself?

You don't have to kill it, just skin/butcher it

For "Building Idol" you only need to "Collect Bone" from a dead Deer and Bear

Just wait until you want a brickwall and you're full nature :D Think it over. :P
