Bridges

with all this killer-rivers it would be pretty awesome to have the ability to build bridges. The bridges could be buildted just like palisade or brick wall:
you build the first piece on a river coast, then you can choose the direction of the other pieces, but no corners could be buildted.
What do you think?

You know... you just might be on to something! I hope the devs read this post!

EDIT: That's rather cruel of me.

Yeah, seeing as all the bridge suggestions are in every other forum except this one, its better to at least have a thread here to actively discuss bridge building implementation.

While I do agree that no sharp turns should be allowed on bridges, I think we should be allowed to build them diagonally in addition than just the regular directions.

Jorb, get to drawing us some bridges! >=[

Bridges will have to wait, unfortunately. I'd like to, but it is currently very unclear how to implement them in any reasonable manner. We'll certainly be making boats before that.

i think they said before that they were having trouble making the game remember what tiles were originally underneath the bridge or something

Binoz i was thinking the same thing lol, but you got here first. But anyway bridges would be a great idea because you would be able to pull carts across them. I know boats will let you cross the river but im pretty sure you cant put anything else in a boat to take it across the river.

Seems to me that you could add two new tile types: bridged water and bridged shallow water. When a bridge is built, change the water tiles underneath to bridged water tiles. If you want to force bridges to be built from both sides, you could set it up like fences, where you build out one tile at a time, but limit how many times you could build out from each bridge endpiece to four or so so that you'd have to build from both sides to make a long enough bridge.

The problem is there is no sense of hight in this game. With bridges one should be able to walk over it, and boats should be able to go under it, and people on boats shouldn't collide with people on bridges.
