tunnels

now we cant build mines everywhere and with the swimming issue i had this idea of implementing tunnels.

the tunnel lv would be a also a map but beneath the supergrid and could have the same uses like mines did on the old map.
soem points
- tunnel entrance can only be build outside en not in cellars. it would take the space of a kiln.
- make underground city possible with more connections to the surface.
- tunnels benath rivers.
- mining gives 1 stone per tile.
- connection points can only be made by make a tunnelshaft at the surface.
- no cart and liftable objects can be carried inside.

tell your opinion about it :D

No thanks.

I'd rather not see endless rabbit warrens dotting the landscape.

A better idea: Caves should provide routes under rivers. (Maybe they do already???) I've done some exploring, but I only ran into underground water.

Or perhaps you could combine our ideas and let players extend caves.

This would make walls utterly pointless.

would it be better if you can build the tunnelholes only at village areas
villages there land probably stretches farther than the radius of a river.
then the land wouldn't be littered by rabbitholes

that is a good alternative indeed, in order to make a second entrance you will need to make a sign from the underground.
So on the surface youl see where you can build your entrance. or the devs can implement a cave sign on the map like you can now toggle a clain sign to see where claims are located.

Um... they already do? Quite a few of the cave systems are connected by multiple entrances.

I know of one cave already that has at least two entrances. Sadly they're not on opposite sides of a river.
