Mosaics

Postby Potjeh » Fri Sep 11, 2009 6:29 pm

Randomly assign a colour to every mine spot when it's generated. Ore from the mine that doesn't turn into metal turns into stones of this colour. Pavement is same colour as stones used to pave it. Plain old boulders give boring grey stones.

This would encourage some form of trade because everybody likes pretty colours and would beautify the game a lot. And it requires almost zero effort - just apply a colour mask over existing graphics. It'd also add just one variable to stones and pavement, which shouldn't be that hard on the server, especially if you restrict it to a small number of colours.

Main use for this is in the thread title.

I'm not sure about that implementation, but I like the idea a lot. Maybe have each mine or mineral produce one or two colors out of eight possible ones. Stone trading would be pretty popular amongst the wealthy. And, since useful amounts would be too large to trade via teleport, cart trades would be necessary, but not worth stealing...

There's a lot going for this idea.
Surprise.

Interesting. I quite like the idea. :)

There are a couple of combinatoric effects in the implementation of pavement that make it a little hard at least at the moment, but I'd like to somehow remedy those anyway. I'll think about it.

Good idea, I am assuming you mean sepia and earth tone colours, not happy hippie unicorn ones?
