It'd be handy if Basic Mechanics allowed you to build levers and connect them to gates you possessed the key for.

Wooden levers for palisade gates, metal levers for brick gates.

It probably wouldn't be hard for the devs to set up. I like this idea. It should require a fair bit of materials though. Maybe special items like gears. The metal it's made out of would affect it's durability.

I would prefer to see larger (3-4 tiles wide, for cart access), key-less gates, that need to be hooked up to a gate winch if you want to close (or open) them.

That would work too. I just want to see gate levers.

and not have all of them tied to metal because thats stupid when gatekeys are free and more useful from being portable, bad jfloyd, no cookie for thoughtless suggestions
