Currently the only way you can really expand a village is by having a meaningful supply of iron. While people who don't have access can get small amounts of iron, it's very hard to get any meaningful quantity. There needs to be other forms of authority objects that take different metals, and or no metals at all. The city of Brodgar is having its growth stunted by this problem.

Also, it'd be cool if statues recorded the name of the person who held that position when the statue was completed that can be read by right clicking it like a runestone. This would be especially cool once the game shifts to be more blood-line oriented.
That would require ever piece of clothing to be made into statue form. As it is allot of work I'm not quite sure the devs would be interested in doing that...
Also, I would image seeing quite a bit of naked man with a tophat on statues.

Also requiring iron for the cauldron, but then, its a one time cost of 6 cast, unlike the % chance of getting a single wrought from a number of blooms.
