There is a plow to plow fields.

What about a harvester to harvest fields? Maybe even be able to attach a basket to it to collect the seeds?

Because medieval man could build plows.

Medieval man could not, however, build any sort of harvester. Scythes anyone?

Well...not EXACTLY. If I remember my history, scythes were equipped with nets to catch the wheat kernels before hitting the hard ground, thus saving many seeds from being lost during the harvest. That's a basic harvesting tool, outside of a regular scythe.

I've cut grass with a scythe numerous times. I just don't see how it could work with anything attached to the business end. You wave the scythe around a lot, so anything dragging behind the blade would get tangled in stuff all the time. Not to mention you'd need a huge-ass net because by the time the top of the cut plant reaches ground, the blade of the scythe is like a meter and a half away. You can't use a scythe that tangles in stuff, because you need soft, smooth motion for good results. That, and the blade would get jerked into ground all the time, making it dull after just a couple of swings (it's useless if it's not razor-sharp).

This game seriously needs more plow-like actions. Maybe when you equip a pick or scythe, the cursor changes to a "mine"/"harvest" icon (if you right click the tool stays equipped but you can right click it in your inventory and pick harvest/mine to get it back). With harvest, every tile you walk on is auto harvested. With mine, every tile you walk next to is mined (would be nice to have a mine to this spot option but we can live without it).

Also, a seed bag which holds maybe 40 seeds, like a quiver (but not in the backpack spot). Works with same mechanism: You pick "plant seed" and walk over a field to auto plant. You could also have "plant grass" as a 2nd option in the menu.

Likewise, a shovel for laying stone. Stone should still take inventory space like now, being heavy and bulky.

Fishing should just continuously fish like chip stone. Same for apples, clay, milk.

Yeah, this makes it easy to macro/cheat/whatever. Guess what, it's just as easy to macro with the current system! But the current system is much more annoying to honest players. Besides, so what if they get a little LP from exploiting some fishing bug? Bear hunting will still be vastly more efficient.

If you're *really* paranoid, do like with branches and remove LP gain after a point.

Nor could he build hearthfires, brew tea, snort boar tusks and what not. Your point?

Well, medieval man could infact brew tea from my recollections, and there were aphrodisiacs considering many Greeks/Romans were drug addicts. But I do have to apologize for that post. It came out a bit bitchier than I had intended.

Eh, it depends what we're talking about. England didn't have tea up until the 17th century.
