Launcher Idea

Postby Lizox2 » Tue Oct 04, 2011 8:53 pm

Hello,I'm Lizox, and I got this idea about the launcher for the client.
Cuz for MANY people it dousn't work... (That includes me)
And i wondered if it were possible that when we download the launcher INSTEAD we download like a folder with the launcher inside and all the files to the game.
That would probaly fix the many problems people have.
Cuz using the Custom client someone made worked but my computer wasn't the best friend with it so...
I wondererd if you could make it so that we download the FOLDER with the game instead of the laucnher that download/installs the game
That would probaly help us ALOT.

Thanks for taking time to read :-)

You can already download haven.jar and run it.
The res files are included in that.

The game files, however, which I don't believe you are actually asking for, aren't given to anyone.

I'm going to say "wut?" I'm going to try and make heads and tails of your post. (If you're a non-native English speaker, forgive me, but translators usually do a better job than what you posted.)

The basic client is automatically installed to your computer by Java (assuming it is downloaded completely). You just need to find the launcher in the Java control panel if it didn't save to your desktop. All of the necessary game files are saved in a folder on your local computer.

Third party clients may or may not have issues running on a computer based on other software and drivers present. However, the biggest issue is with the increased number of resource requests they make to a server that is likely already overtaxed. (Just a heads up, Jorb and Loftar both use the player developed clients because Loftar, the coder, has repeatedly stated he hates doing clients. Don't expect anything with the default client to change any time soon unless it's a necessary change.)

If what you're asking is what Aurion is assuming, then maybe you need to learn what MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) means. If you want a single player wilderness survival game, there are already a few good ones out there, UnReal World and Dwarf Fortress to name a couple.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

What Operating system are you using?

There are many guides to getting the custom clients to work that should help you with your problem.
My best guess is that you need to edit the run.bat file and give a specific location for javaw.
