Inkweed and new ways to get it

Postby farmchamp » Tue Sep 29, 2009 3:51 am

Inkweed needs more ways to be gotten. Grassland is just too rare. First off, it should be growable, but will die 70% of the time before it can be used. Another way is that it sometimes can appear in shallow water, floating along. And occasionally it will appear in the water when digging for clay. If not, there should be substitutes of ink and parchment. On runestones, you should be able to use a rock to carve a map of the local area onto it. Or you can use clay instead of ink, but will only show rivers, forest, and grassland, making very crude maps. Just a thought.

Also, there should be minor distortions in the maps when made, with less the higher quality. Like that river is too wide, or that grassland is more south. Perception and exploration would both improve map quality. Just a thought!

You're just not looking enough then.
I've built up a chest full and more since it was implemented.
Its not as if its necessary to have for everyone, and if you do need it, you can probably go off to some grasslands away from civilization to find it.

Do not agree. Half the point of the herbs system is that the herbs should not be farmable. And, also, I have absolutely zero problems finding enough inkweed.

Yup, I can pretty much set out with just an empty jar and some parchment, and not have to worry about inkweed. And I have mere 25 exploration. I actually have a harder time finding water for ink than inkweed when I'm mapping unfamiliar regions.

I like the idea of runestone maps.

I agree with you disagreeing. I've seen em plenty myself, just like rust root and the other herb. Besides, as mentioned before, it doesn't have to be accessible for everyone.
