Redux on Mines

Postby Jfloyd » Wed Sep 30, 2009 4:17 am

I think mines should be layed out in a fashion, not where every tile is stone except a few viens of metal, but where there are "pillars" of stone, and pockets of emptyness.
Mines should also have small connected tunnels, and walls of unbreakable rock, that acts like natural barriers.

I agree with everything in your post but also believe it has all been suggested before and that the devs have acknowledged that the mining section needs a lot of work.

medium to low priority? As a full nature main full industry alt I am somewhat biased

I know they've been posted before, I'm just mind forcing. :P
I don't like the fact I can go into a dark hole, with perfectly square walls, and take out metal.

Yeah, take a page from Toady One and put a month or two into improving the Underground.
For one thing, it would make mines more interesting than giant underground plains.
Surprise.

Should they do that before boats? or before larger buildings? What about before fixing the LP and FEP systems?

Also note that a Tarn month is a month of full time 40 hour weeks, whereas a month of J&L is a month of weekend dev sessions... Not that I mean to bash J&L in any way, just understand that their pace is not that of a full time software dev.

Actually I've thought about it again, and having a more interesting mining experience would likely result in more people having an interest in mining, so maybe this is more important than I thought...

Underground rivers, so you can drown and get crushed at the same time.
