Increase Banner overlappable Radius and cost

Postby theTrav » Wed Sep 30, 2009 4:27 am

I think the cost for increasing village authority is about right, however the density of banners in brodgar is getting a bit out of control.

Dev's have a walk through and see if you think it's ugly or not.

If we could have the same banner for twice the cost, with twice the outer radius and the same inner radius, we'd be able to make a far more aesthetically pleasing city...

Please don't double the inner radius as well because that just seems to force horrible flag layouts.

Maybe some other new authority objects too, kind of bland with just banners and one kind of statue.

I've been thinking this myself for a few days now.

Yup, ironless towns really need a better way to expand their influence. I propose silk banners, which would be almost as good as the statues.

Stackable banners. You make a new banner and combine it with the old one to form a super banner!

Bronze, silver, or gold statues?

Though I imagine that a golden statue would have QUITE an area of influence.

Stone statues would be nice, maybe only buildable with QL50+ stone?

If you've got silk there's a pretty good chance you could just trade it for steel...

I don't care so much about increasing the influence any faster, it's more the required density of authority objects and the PITA of managing the overlap.

Loftar has raised the point that once authority becomes worthwhile it'll be more important to stop people from just building a forest of them, but maybe an object that claims land but does not store authority?

Authority is pretty worthwile at the moment, free teleports to the village for hirdsman is extremely useful. I do agree with object that can claim land but not store authority. I think it would look cool having flags lining the road just outside the gate of a village.
