Bears and sandbars...

(A critique, not an idea, so shut up about how I post too much here. I literally have no life :ugeek:)

So, I was out hunting with Chak yesterday and we came across a bear. Usually when this happens, I run like hell leaving nothing to mark my stay but a steady stream of urine. But today was different. Chak had his combat gear, and I had just gotten my marksmanship up to a decent level, and had a decent bow and a quiver full of decent arrows. But decent isn't enough to kill a bear. For that, you need a SANDBAR!

I positioned myself out at the farthest shallow point on the sandbar and waited for chak to lure the L. VI bear to me. In about 2 minutes it was butchered, and I was 8k LP stronger.

So, I ask, why can't bears walk in shallow water? It seems like a relatively simple thing to add, with a system similar to players walking in shallow water. I'm aware that most shallow water is the 1-2 tiles on the banks of a river, within easy striking distance of a bear, but sandbars are somewhat common. I mean, I was able to kill a bear with 25-ish marksmanship. There's something wrong with that picture.

So, I propose that
A) Bows are unusable in shallow water due to, well, the water?
or
B) Bears gain the ability to walk in shallow water

Although I couldn't care less. Bear meat is delicious, and it's hide makes an excellent cape

Bears should be able to swim.

They should also be able to knock down bear traps made from cheap building sites

The search function would turn up some nice posts about animals not being able to walk in shallow water.
