Scrap

This is another idea that springs from the increased rarity of metal, as well as the implementation of item quality.

Let's say you make yourself a nicer metal whatever, a pick, miners helm, hammer, etc. etc. What to do with the old one? Sure, you could sell it to another play... or?

Lets say you dump it in your smelter, and remelt it down into a bar of the same Q metal as before. Any wooden elements would be destroyed.

Well, as the server is down, I do agree with you. Scrap should be implemented...and hell, even wood scraps from tearing down palisade walls, cabins, or what have you. You won't get as many as was put in, but you should still get something.

I strongly agree to the concept of scrap value. If we destroy an item, some of the initial building components should be regained, especially the valuable bits.
I read that homesteaders in the US would burn their buildings down before moving on just to collect the metal nails for re-use at the new settlement.
As a newbie character (Core), I am scrounging where I can. A discarded hide, abandoned arrows , etc.
Also, re-use may slow the rampant deforestation I am seeing. On the other hand, de-forestation is apparently a good deterrent to having any close neighbors ;)

hey you live close to me!

I like the scrap idea, it would help with the clutter, and create new reasons for people to attack eachother.

I agree it should be possible to recycle metal goods.
