tree planting

Postby joojoo1975 » Mon Oct 05, 2009 8:35 pm

greetings

new here and my first suggestion.

when i first started the game, i noticed that you needed trees etc to help you get you on your way with the lp gainage. now i'm sure there other ways w/o trees but lets be serious, trees are an integral part of this game.

my suggestion is simple. we shouldn't have to kill trees to make trees

my idea is you don't need the Herbilist table to get the seeds to pop into lil trees. lets use the Herbilist table to increase the quality of trees(like if i can produce a q5 tree without the H table, then using it would net me a q10 or even a q15 tree seedling.)

now if you don't have a H. table no worries, still use pottery to make the tree planter pot, and then water it and put soil in it. But when you plant the seed, everything continues like it does now, when you put it on the H table, after2.3/4 hours your either got a tree seedling or a dead pot. the pots can be put anywhere and they still have that timer. but here is another catch, when you plant the seedling, you plant the pot and all, so if you want to plant more trees your gonna have to make more pots.

Now in order to get the benifit of the H. table the pots have to be put in there b4 what ever time you think is neccessary, and then just plant the tree.

this way, your not killing trees in order to grow new trees.

the idea prolly has been said b4 but i'm new, so just in case, there ya go

hope you like.

true, but when you only have one tree to start with. . .

when i first started, there was a lil mulberry tree that i could take branches from that was a ways west 0f the starting ring of stones. made a few lp from it(just started out and i was putting some posts in MMORPG.com, I come back to the game, and the tree was cut down. Luckly i had pottery skill so i could just sit in water and make treeplanter pots till i found an apple tree. i was in hog heaven, so to speak, till. . .can u guess what happens next?

it might only take one tree to make a H. table, but pls tell me why the newbie area isn't overflowing with trees?

but thankyou for your info and reply :)

People cut them down, and will continue to do so with all trees planted there.

There are too many players to have one static starting point for new characters. Resources in the starting area will always be stripped clean.

The world's ridiculously huge isn't it? Why not have multiple starting areas (each of which is a "lake" of easy animals; since as I understand it animals get tougher/more aggressive as you leave the safety of RoB.)

Just seems like starting areas should spiral out from the center once population levels in the existing spawn area are high enough.

hence the reason why we shouldn't have to use H. tables in order to plant new trees(the basic idea of why you shouldn't have to kill a tree to make a tree)

the world's is always gonna be filled with assholes and idiots, those of us who wanna try to strive shouldn't be made to pay such a high price because of them.

thankyou for your comments though :)

It's an interesting idea and I don't think it has been suggested before.

In the mean time if you want to use TCoB's herbalist table I'm sure you could get someone to help you out.

thanx m8.

what i had to do was walk for nearly an hour b4 i found a tree that wasn't owned. then another 2 hours transporting the two logs back to the spot. Didn't know bout the plant fibers but was in luck when some m8 walked up and traded the one log for a strawbasket full of fibers. Since then i have moved on, but the place i left is better than i left it(tree wise) it's just a lil east of the ring. and to all of you new players who come across this post, and there isn't a claim on it yet? i would suggest you grab it. it'll get you the wood and space for a cart and 4 strawbasketfulls of grain so you can setout and find a better spot(like i did as well)

though i been thinking of joining a village, but that's another post :D

Sorry for the bump.
Having a starting quest for new characters has been mentioned before. Perhaps part of this quest could be to plant a number of trees near the RoB?
